Composer Ysaye Barnwell joins Mendelssohn Club of Philadelphia for an interactive event that will have you singing your hearts out! The concert features her captivating compositions Wanting Memories, No Mirrors in My Nana’s House, Spiritual, and We Are…
Barnwell, best known as the female bass in the a cappella ensemble Sweet Honey in the Rock, will also invite you to raise your voice with us for a moving sing-along in the American tradition. The program also features Afro-American Fragments by William Averitt, a powerful cycle of music for chorus and two pianists, featuring the poetry of Langston Hughes, as well as music from the American folk and spiritual traditions.
The event will take place at Church of the Holy Trinity, on Rittenhouse Square in Philadelphia. General seating is $28; VIP is $38 and student tickets can be purchased with a current ID for $12.
