Coming Home

A week's worth of shows that reminded me of who I am, where I've been and where I'm going.

Last week's set of MOJOs took me into a pleasant emotional space, because of great on-air guests, but also because there was a strong sense of connectedness to areas of my life that I truly love. It helped that last week was the week after my birthday, so I suppose I was already pretty open to how the present events in my life provide a link to the dreams, plans and experiences that have led me to this point.

From the goodwill that we always generate during the Monday Muse segment with Dr. Guthrie Ramsey, providing context for our cultural legacy; to my interview with Carlos Andres Gomez, recounting the similarities in our lives and our experiences at Penn and how our creativity has led us into similar paths of communication and service; a chat with Natalie "The Floacist" Stewart, reminding me of the importance of Philadelphia's music scene in the late 90s and early 2000s in grooming the next generation of soulful expression; a drop-in from Dr. Cornell West, who appreciated my discussion of Tawana Brawley and Sharmeka Moffitt and joined me in a call for community emotional healing; and astrologer Samuel F. Reynolds, who gave us an expert analysis of what the stars advise us as we look to Election Day on November 6. All moments that represent a level of experience, awakening, spiritual connection and conscious practice that are hallmarks of my life. I thank each and every one of my MOJO guests and the amazing people who call in to advance our conversations for your role in building a better me, and for pushing me to continue enlightening and inspiring others through this amazing opportunity on WURD Radio.
