Nov 10, 2011 | NewsThe votes are counted and the results speak for themselves. Mayor Michael Nutter wins with over ninety percent of the votes, prevailing Republican Candidate Karen Brown by a 3-1 ratio. Independent Candidate Diop 'Wali' Rahran only racked up about three percent, but his supporters still seem loyal to the ideology of exposure is better than no action.
On the City Council results, six new members will be sworn in on January 2, 2012. Not since 1991 has City Council seen any significant changes in faces and seats. Maybe the new leadership and chairs will spur a new cohesive and coherent direction for the City and the multi-dimensional issues it faces. Are more members in City Council a signal to a new look in Philly politics even thought the top spot is occupied by lame duck politician Michael Nutter? Read more here
