Let's Move it Philly!

A GrassROOTS Community Foundation Fundraiser!

On Monday February 12th Host Stephanie Renee of Wake Up with WURD interviewed Dr. Janice Johnson-Dias co-founder of the GrassROOTS Community Foundation about the event Let’s Move It Philly!, an event to help improve the physical and emotional health of children.

Tariq “Black Thought” Trotter of the musical group The ROOTS will be hosting Let’s Move It Philly! on this Saturday February 16, 2013. Dr. Johnson-Dias spoke with Stephanie Renee about the importance of getting children particularly girls in disadvantaged communities to become more physically active in an effort to ward off obesity and other major health conditions.

There will also be a benefit concert on the 16th to raise funds for the GrassROOTS Community Foundation. All proceeds will go to C.H.I.C.K.S (Creating Healthy Informed Confident Knowledgeable Selves) an after school programs for girls at Harding Middle School in the northeast section of Philadelphia. The benefit concert will be held at Sigma Sound 212 N. 12th Street in Philadelphia. Doors open at 9pm and will feature Black Though, Marsha Ambrosius, Malene Younglao, Chill Moody, Dice Raw and many more!
