Lest We Not Forget Slavery Museum

Check out a local museum that explores the Black Holocaust!

Last week Nick Taliaferro of The Nick Taliaferro Show welcomed guests Gwen & Justin Ragsdale owners and operators of the Lest We Forget Black Holocaust Museum of Slavery. Gwen and Justin spoke with Nick about the founding of the museum and why they felt the need to operate a museum of this nature. As curators of the museum, they take parts of the museum on the road as a part of a traveling exhibit to organizations and schools to educate others about the abuse of slaves during the Trans-Atlantic slave trade.

The museum includes an extensive collection of slavery artifacts of its kind in Philadelphia which includes shackles, branding irons and other forms of punishing ironware. The collections also possesses numerous documents that promoted the buying and selling of enslaved Africans.

The goal of the museum is to demonstrate what it was like to “Be a Slave”.  The Lest We Forget Black Holocaust Museum of Slavery is located at 3650 Richmond St in Philadelphia. General admission is $10.00 and the hours of operation are 10:00am to 6:00pm by appointment only. For more information please contact Gwen and Justin Ragsdale at (215) 205-4324 or (215) 397-6060 or visit their website: http://lwfsm.com.
