Philadelphia's youth unemployment rate is among the highest,  not to mention summer vacation means higher rates of crime. So, here are some programs to occupy your child's time with the absence of the regular school day.

Where Are You Sending Your Children This Summer?!

There are a few places that we suggest that would be a fun place to send your child this summer:

Summer Camp 2012 At The Philadelphia Zoo

This summer camp gives children the opportunity to learn and immerse themselves into the wonderful world of animals. The children will have hands on games and activities around the zoo. Teach the child to care about animals, take activities around the zoo. Teach the child to care about animals, take an active role in saving species. The camp offers full day and half day. Summer Programs At Curtis

This summer program is for if your child like music. Can help you child discover what makes their music so special, and share that with a person who has the same passion for music like your child. The summer programs at the Curtis is located in the new Lenfest Hall. It's a downtown special, conveniently located at the heart of center city Philadelphia on Rittenhouse Square. It’s comfortable setting to focus on music and soak up some of Philly's rich culture.

Summer Art Camp

Allen’s Lane Summer Art Camp welcomes campers from all over the area (ages 5-12). The camp offers a unique blend of arts and athletics activities that gives each child a memorable summer. The campus in the middle of Fairmount Park. Campers attend classes in clay, painting and theater. The campers can pick a favorite and take special classes in what they like. College Settlement Over Night Camp:

College Settlement is the perfect outdoor environmental camp, located in Horsham, PA.  It offers overnight sessions all summer at affordable prices. Help your child grow into an independent young person, and allow them to experience something they will never forget. The residential camp offers camping experiences to children ages 8-12 who could not otherwise afford such opportunities. The College Settlement Camp offers children from different ethnic, cultural and social backgrounds the opportunity to live, play and learn together. They even have employment opportunities for tweens aged 14-18, who still want to get out of the city and work!
