Radio Xalaat- African Connection
Host: El-Hadji Ndiaye

Show Times:

Saturday: 10:00pm-12:00am

Born and raised in Dakar, Senegal in West Africa, El-Hadji came to the U.S. more than 15 years ago. He joined the WURD family back in 2003 as the host of the “African Connection,” also known as “XALAAT.”  The word XALAAT means thought, opinions, point of view, etc. and comes from Wolof, a Senegalese language. The program was created to address unmet needs among members of the African and Caribbean immigrant and refugee communities in the greater Philadelphia area, who experience difficulties accessing healthcare and social services due to cultural, geographic, linguistic, and other barriers. WURD 900 AM allows people of the African and Caribbean Diaspora to find a “home” somewhere on the radio dial. African Connection currently airs in English, French and Wolof (Senegalese language).
